Every year an amazing natural phenomenon takes place in the Maltsev meadow tract. The Siberian roe deer together with their children leave the Norsky Nature Reserve, where the animals spent the spring-summer season. Ungulates, anticipating an imminent cold snap and snow, move to the central and southern regions of the Amur region, where it is warmer and less snowy.

The Siberian roe deer together with their children leave the Norsky Nature Reserve, where the animals spent the spring-summer season. Ungulates, anticipating an imminent cold snap and snow, move to the central and southern regions of the Amur region, where it is warmer and less snowy.

They have to overcome 200-300 kilometers of the way and the main obstacle is the deep, icy northern Burrow.

Recently, Amur hunting experts began to protect the migration routes of the Siberian roe deer across the river in the Selemdzhinsky and Mazanovsky districts. Groups of inspectors are on duty around the clock in the Maltsev meadow tract. Until October 8, they will keep track of how many animals have swum across the river, as well as protect them from poachers.

Last year, specialists from the Department for the Protection of Wildlife of the Amur Region and the Directorate for the Protection and Use of Wildlife and Protected Areas, working in the Maltsev meadow area, counted 450 roe deer.
