More than 41,000 residents in Thailand were left homeless after the flood, which claimed the lives of 51 people, according to the Thai newspaper Nation on Tuesday.

According to her, more than 29 thousand people in areas affected by flooding in southern Thailand, fell ill with respiratory and skin diseases due to a long stay in the water.

Earlier, the media reported, citing the Thai Ministry of Health, that 51 people were killed during the flood. According to the ministry, this figure is not final. Data on the dead and injured continue to flow to the operational centers of the Ministry of Health in the regions affected by the floods.

Rescue and evacuation efforts are still underway in Nakhon Sithammarat province, one of nine provinces in southern Thailand that were partially flooded after anomalous rainfall in late March.

Several areas of the province are topographically lowlands. Over the past two days, water has flowed there, leaving from higher places. Most of the flood-affected area is undergoing reconstruction work, and the evacuees are returning to their homes.

The evacuation of the population from the Nopphitham district of Nakhon Sithammarat province, located in the Khao Luang National Park, will also begin on Tuesday. The reason for the evacuation was a kilometer-long crack in the soil on the slope of one of the highest mountains in the national park. Experts believe that a landslide and mudflow will inevitably occur in this place, since the soil cover of the mountain is oversaturated with rainwater after abnormal precipitation.

Thai weather forecasters promise a new cold snap and rain on Tuesday. At the moment, it is cloudy in the north and central part of Thailand, it is raining in some places, but the temperature remains at the normal level for April, 35 degrees during the day and 26-28 degrees at night.
