While thousands of people are still stricken by floods, flooding rivers have flooded six districts of the country. Many houses and vast areas of arable land have already been swallowed up by rivers.
Flood-affected people are going through hard days amid a shortage of food and drinking water, although relevant government officials say steps have been taken to distribute relief supplies.
The bulletin of the Flood Forecasting and Prevention Center says that yesterday the water level in 14 rivers of the country exceeded a dangerous level.
"In the next 24 hours, the flood situation in the low-lying areas of Kurigram, Gaybandha, Jamalpur, Bogur, Tangaila, Sirajganj, Pabna, Manikganj, Rajbari, Shariatpur and Faridpur may worsen," the bulletin said.
