Three people died and two went missing as a result of floods and landslides in various parts of the Darchula area.
The flooding and landslides that occurred after the incessant rain on Sunday evening damaged houses and also resulted in human casualties in various parts of the rural Duhun community and the Mahakali community.
Narsingh Mahar and his wife Kausha Mahar were killed when a landslide buried their home in the Baspalik village of Duhun. The landslide came down at night while the couple were asleep, says District Attorney Manohar Prasad Bhatta.
Similarly, Manuva Dadal was killed by flooding in the Dulla rural community of Duhun-5. A flood in the local Kalagad River at about 10 p.m. swept away the Dadal home.

The flooding also damaged bridges, micro-hydroelectric power plants and a water mill. The flood also killed cattle.
The flood damaged five shops, two hydroelectric power plants, four suspension bridges and a concrete bridge in the area.
In addition, two people were reported missing after being washed away by floods in Nijanggada, the no. 3 district of the rural municipality. These are Sher Singh Karki and Harak Singh Karki. The overflowing Nijanggad River washed away and damaged the RCC bridge and two suspension bridges on the Darchula-Tinkar section of the road.
