In the Orenburg region, paleontologists for the first time in Russia found traces of Triassic reptiles. Writes about this RIA56.

“The study of the tracks will make it possible to draw a conclusion about what kind of gait the Early Triassic animal had: how wide the step was and how the limbs were positioned. Scale imprints on the found slab will make it possible to judge the soft tissues that are usually destroyed during burial. Previously, we did not have this information,”said Andrey Sennikov, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Paleoherpetology at the Paleontological Institute.

The Orenburg region is a unique territory for paleontologists, since the geological layers of the Late Permian and Early Triassic eras have been preserved here. The publication notes that employees of the Paleontological Institute find fossil remains of prehistoric animals here every summer.

Earlier, in the Kochenevsky district of the Novosibirsk region, archaeologists found a burial of ancient animals, including rhinos, bison, horses and mammoths. Some of the remains are believed to be about 30 thousand years old. As a result, an expedition was organized with divers who explored 12 kilometers of the Chik River floodplain.
