A new study in Israel compared the protection afforded by vaccine-induced immunity to natural immunity after a previous infection with COVID-19 and showed that the latter provides much better protection against infection, symptomatic illness and hospitalization.
Natural Immunity Provides Much Longer Protection
Directly comparing 16,215 people previously infected with COVID-19 to 16,215 fully vaccinated people, 10 doctors (Gazit et al., 2021) preprint (preprint) that fully vaccinated people (a) are 13 times more likely to be infected with COVID-19, (b) are 27 times more likely to suffer from symptomatic diseases; and (c) are 8 times more likely to be hospitalized than unvaccinated people with a previous COVID (natural immunity) infection.
"This study demonstrated that natural immunity provides longer and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic illness and hospitalization caused by the delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, compared to the immunity caused by two doses of BNT162b2 vaccine."
Other studies (Dan et al., 2021, Turner et al., 2021) have also shown that natural immunity gained after a previous infection provides long-term, even "lifelong" protection against re-infection, or that "individuals who have had a SARS infection CoV-2 are unlikely to benefit from COVID-19 vaccination "(Shrestha et al., 2021).
Vaccine efficacy drops by 56% in just 70 days
A new study, published in The Lancet, reports an initial surge in antibody protection in those who received a second dose of Pfizer vaccine.
Unfortunately, within a few weeks after the last vaccination, the effectiveness of the vaccine begins to decline sharply. In just 2.5 months, the level of antibodies to the Pfizer vaccine dropped by 56%.
An exponential decrease in the "effectiveness of the vaccine to 40% per month after the last vaccination
Another new study highlights the rapid drop in antibody protection almost immediately after the second shot.
While people with natural immunity after a previous COVID-19 infection (recovering) lose <5% of their antibody protection per month after COVID-19 infection, only vaccinated people lose up to 40% of their immunity protection every month after the last vaccination.
At this rate, the artificial immunity provided by vaccines diminishes over a period of several months.
