The extraction of mineral water in the Caucasus is carried out without a comprehensive plan with hundreds of violations, the upper water horizon has already become unsuitable for drinking, a unique natural resource is being lost, said the head of Rosprirodnadzor, Svetlana Radionova, at the department's board.

"If in the Soviet years it was a comprehensive development of the field, now these are cut pieces, which does not allow high-quality extraction of this water, leads to numerous complaints from citizens. In fact, we are losing sources of unique, mineral water. Our unique resort, it seems to us, needs more protection ", - said Radionova.

She added that small license areas provoke an increase in anthropogenic pressure.

"There is massive development, the anthropogenic load on the ground is increasing, water is migrating to other horizons. It is polluted by other substances. Our first horizon of mineral water is no longer suitable for drinking. It is suitable only for swimming and for some kind of baths," she said. head of department.

She added that the department is preparing a consolidated report on the cities of the region - Yessentuki, Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Mineralnye Vody.

As Radionova clarified, the department's specialists examined all 225 wells in the region and found 699 violations in their operation.

“We see eight wells born in 1861-1894, that is, eight wells from 225 of the last century. These facilities have not been modernized,” said Radionova.
