A motorcyclist was killed after a lightning strike lost control of his motorcycle on I-95 South.
According to the captain of the Liberty County Sheriff's office, Dennis Poulsen, the deceased was driving with his brother at about 5 pm, when, according to his brother, due to a lightning strike that occurred nearby, a motorcyclist pulled over to the side of the road and hit a fence.
The victim flew over the fence and fell to the ground, and the motorcycle continued along the fence, then crossed three lanes of the highway and stopped.
Poulsen said that the man's brother went to help his brother, who did not react to what was happening and was later pronounced dead.
Georgia State Patrol Officer Jonathon Edwards said the victim would be taken to the GBI forensic lab for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Poulsen said the Ohio brothers left North Carolina this morning to travel to Florida.
They got caught in heavy rain and tried to get to the flyover to find cover until the rain was over.
