In the Irkutsk region, on the morning of August 2, there are eight newly discovered fires and 35 previously registered fires. New foci were found on a total area of ​​57 hectares, of which 8 hectares are uncovered by forest: four - in the Katangsky region, two - in Nizhneilimsky, one each - in the Ust-Ilimsky and Kirensky regions. Old fires operate on a total area of ​​99, 585 thousand hectares: 23 in the Katangsky region, five in the Kirensky, three each in the Bodaibinsky and Ust-Kutsky districts, and one in the Mamsko-Chuisky.

A previously detected fire was localized on an area of ​​120 hectares, covered with forest, in the Kirensky district. Also, in a localized state, on the morning of August 2, seven previously registered fires passed: three each in the Katangsky district and the Ust-Kutsky district, one in the Mamsko-Chuysky district. The total area of ​​these foci is 4.791 thousand hectares.

Newly discovered fires were extinguished on an area of ​​25 hectares in the Bratsk and Kuytun districts. According to preliminary information, both fires were caused by thunderstorms.

An operational group is working in the Irkutsk region, headed by the deputy head of the Federal Forestry Agency, Alexander Agafonov. The task is to help coordinate forces in extinguishing fires in the region. Currently, the deputy head of the federal department is working in the Katangsky region. An additional 50 aviation security specialists arrived here yesterday, half of them are already on fire extinguishing. The rest undergo the necessary training and check their equipment. In the near future, they will also go to the north of the region, where there are most of the fires.
