Heavy rains can lead to flooding in the North Caucasus, as well as in a number of regions in southern Russia. This was announced by Vladimir Moshkov, Acting Head of the All-Russian Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergencies of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

"As a result of water warming in the southern seas to 29 degrees, the probability of convective precipitation with local flooding of terrain increases. Potential emergencies include the territories of Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, subjects of the North Caucasian Federal District, as well as Adygea, Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, "he said.

In addition, due to the expected heavy precipitation, high river water content and low groundwater occurrence, flooding of low-floodplain areas with infrastructure facilities and residential buildings located on them in the Trans-Baikal Territory and the south of Kamchatka Territory, as well as Buryatia, is possible. "We recommend that the RSChS management bodies of the listed entities clarify plans for the prevention and elimination of the consequences of emergencies," Moshkov added.
