Smoke from wildfires raging on the west coast of the United States is again approaching the states washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This was announced on Monday by the US National Meteorological Service's eastern office.
"Satellite imagery indicates smoke from wildfires in the western United States and Canada is moving along the northeastern part of the country," the Twitter post said.
Last week, smoke was brought to New York from the states of Oregon, Washington and California, more than 3 thousand km away from it. As a TASS correspondent reports, by Monday evening a slight haze appeared in the city, a slight smell of burning is felt in the air.
At the same time, the Massachusetts branch of NBC, located northeast of New York, notes that some areas are completely shrouded in smoke. As experts warn, the content of harmful substances in the air can threaten the health of people at risk. Users of social networks post on their pages photos of the capital of Massachusetts - the city of Boston, shrouded in smoke, and the sun, which has acquired a bright red hue.
According to the National Interagency Fire Center, based in Idaho, more than 600 thousand hectares of fire are now in the west of the country. In 13 states, 85 large outbreaks were recorded, several thousand people were evacuated. The most difficult situation is in Oregon, where a fire called Bootleg is raging on an area of more than 160 thousand hectares. No data on the dead have yet been reported.
