An emergency regime due to forest fires was introduced in the city of Bodaibo and the Bodaibo district of the Irkutsk region. This was announced on Tuesday by the press service of the regional government.
"In Bodaibo and the region, an emergency regime has been introduced in the forests. This is due to the deterioration of the forest fire situation. Now in the Bodaibo region there are five large forest fires registered from 14 to 18 July," the statement said.
According to the administration of Bodaibo and the district, one fire is located 13.4 km from the village of Bolshoy Patom and is potentially dangerous for the village. There is smoke in the municipalities, but no burning smell. There were no complaints from the population about the smoke.
On July 20, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Irkutsk Region reported that there are nine settlements in three regions of the region in the smoke zone due to forest fires operating in the Angara region, as well as in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). According to the Irkutsk Department for Monitoring and Hydrometeorology of the Environment, no cases of high air pollution and exceeding the maximum permissible concentrations of carbon monoxide were recorded.
In the Irkutsk region on July 20, the area of forest fires is almost 37 thousand hectares. Since July 5, the emergency regime has also been operating in the Katangsky region. More than 400 paratroopers, over 200 workers of forest fire stations, 65 mobilized citizens, 69 units of ground equipment were involved in extinguishing the fires. Situation monitoring is carried out with the help of aviation. The transfer of ground forces and equipment was carried out by the Mi-8 helicopter.
