Scientists do not recommend defrosting meat in the microwave, as is often done. The consequences can be unpleasant - up to and including poisoning. It is better to defrost meat in the refrigerator at a temperature of two to six degrees for several hours.
Scientists have made an unexpected discovery about microwave ovens. It turned out that one of their functions can be hazardous to health. Experts advise against defrosting meat in microwaves, as many are accustomed to. The best option is to transfer it from the freezer to the refrigerator. The meat should lie down for several hours at a temperature of two to six degrees. Otherwise, you can even get poisoned, according to the publication "Sterlegrad".
Professor Costas Stathopoulos from the University of Abertey in the Scottish city of Dundee has proven the potential for harmful health effects. He explained that when meat melts too quickly, the number of germs that cause infectious diseases grows in it. As a result, the work of the digestive system may be disrupted and other unpleasant consequences may occur - up to and including poisoning.
Defrosting meat at room temperature is also not recommended.
