The creation of a Russian-Chinese lunar station is scheduled for 2026-2035. As it became known earlier, they want to create it in three stages.
Russia and China will jointly explore the surface of a natural satellite: this was once again announced in the Celestial Empire. According to the deputy head of the CNSA (National Space Administration of China) lunar exploration program, construction of the station will begin in 2026. They want to fully complete the creation of the object by 2035.
From 2026 to 2030, two missions will be carried out, aimed, among other things, at testing the technologies for landing and returning the obtained samples to Earth. For the period 2031-2035, it is planned to deploy infrastructure in the lunar orbit and the satellite surface. Among other things, communications equipment and research components will be delivered to the Moon.
Earlier it became known that the station construction program involves three stages, and the first of them is expected to be completed by 2025. It can be conditionally called "reconnaissance": the parties must determine the place of construction of the station, as well as solve a number of related tasks.
These terms may shift. So, the launch of the Russian apparatus "Luna-25", which is considered as an element of the program, can be postponed to 2022.
