NASA has released a video of Boeing's Starliner landing in New Mexico. The ship completed its first test flight in unmanned mode.

The launch took place on December 20 at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Atlas-5 rocket launched the Starliner into the calculated suborbital trajectory. Due to an error in flight time, the spacecraft made a late maneuver for additional orbital placement, which made it impossible to dock to the ISS.

LANDING CONFIRMED

The #Starliner spacecraft safely touched down at 7:58 am ET at @WSMissileRange in New Mexico with a bulleye landing. This marks the 1st time an American-made, human-rated capsule has landed on land. Watch our live coverage: https://t.co/MAYPLDF7R7

The ship was decided to return to Earth on December 22.

NASA said that, despite the failure to fulfill the main purpose of the flight, it was possible to test the ship's navigation system and docking mechanism.

In 2011, after the completion of the Space Shuttle's reusable manned transport system, the United States lost the ability to independently conduct manned flights. NASA astronauts are transported to the ISS by Russian Soyuz spacecraft. Since 2014, Boeing and SpaceX have been developing a replacement for the Space Shuttle, but the commissioning of their Starliner and Crew Dragon ships has been repeatedly delayed.
