Sea water near Novorossiysk turned red. The reasons for this are not yet completely clear, but scientists already have reasoned assumptions on this score.
Sea water off the coast of Novorossiysk could turn red due to algal blooms caused by warm weather, but the exact cause of the phenomenon will be established after the study of the samples, RIA Novosti reports, citing specialists from the Novorossiysk Biological Center.
Previously “Our newspaper. Novorossiysk”published a video on its YouTube channel, which shows that the sea water off the coast is colored red.
The center added that local residents believe that the change in the color of sea water may be associated with the release of phenol, but the specialists of the center do not consider this version seriously, because there are no chemical industries of this nature in the city, and besides, in this case, the coast would be littered with the bodies of dead marine life, which is not.
At the moment, experts are planning to take samples and study them. It should give a definite answer to the question about the strange color of the water.
