Scientists at Yale University have linked the emergence of cancer to radiation from cell phones. Findings from the study are posted on the Medical Xpress website.

It is noted that doctors were able to prove the influence of smartphones on the development of thyroid cancer in some patients. Experts examined about 900 people and found that in patients with a certain single nucleotide polymorphism, active use of smartphones doubled the risk of thyroid cancer.

The study clarifies that genetic susceptibility, along with the active use of gadgets, plays an important role in the development of cancer. Identification of people with certain genetic characteristics will allow them to be allocated to a risk group and inform about the possibility of the disease. Experts at Yale University believe that their work was the first to study the combined effect of gadgets and genetic predisposition on the development of oncology.

Experts who took part in the study concluded that further study of the problem will help improve the diagnosis of cancer.

On January 26, Russian oncologist and immunologist Daniil Schepelyaev said that in rare cases, cancer can be contagious. According to him, in practice, there are cases when tumors were transmitted to immunocompromised patients living on substitution therapy.
