The middle of March for the south of Russia unexpectedly turned into a continuation of winter. The northern icy wind of hurricane force blows people and cars off the road, tears off roofs from houses and breaks trees. In the Krasnodar Territory, due to bad weather, a high alert regime has been announced. In Krasnodar, there are 10-point traffic jams and massive accidents. Emergency services in Gelendzhik warn that it is dangerous to go outside. In Tuapse, road traffic can hardly be called controlled. Snow covered the resorts of Stavropol. The traffic on the federal highway "Kavkaz" was interrupted, the airport in Minvody was covered with snow, there were interruptions in air traffic. And in Dagestan, due to a blizzard, more than 100 thousand inhabitants were left without light.

- March 12 - we continue to snow.

The sunny Caucasus turned white in just one night. Spring snow covered the southwest of the Stavropol Territory with a cold avalanche. The streets of the resort towns have turned into paths. The most popular tool has become a snow shovel, rare for these places.

Snowfall paralyzed traffic on the federal highway "Caucasus".

- Strong side wind, blizzard, snowfall!

Because of the icy roads, motorists were advised to stay at home. At one of the precincts, police officers had to restrict movement - patrol cars were taking out caravans of heavy trucks from the blizzard.

The large airport of the Mineralnye Vody region was forced to shut down for several hours. The runway was cleared of snow only by noon. City transport is also returning to the usual schedule. But utilities, having survived the snow rush, are preparing for a new blow. Soon the snow will melt and the streets will be flooded with water.

Another day will not be easy for those driving south. Strong side wind and snow are shifting from Stavropol to Dagestan.

It is unlikely that even a couple of days ago, when there was real spring weather in Dagestan, someone would have said that today Makhachkala and its surroundings will literally be covered with snow.

While cities cope with heavy snowfall thanks to technology, in the foothills they sweep houses, cars and roads. Next to one of them we see a flock. The path trodden to the farm is quickly covered with snow. In order not to get stuck here, Yusup only has a few hours.

"In the morning on a horse. By lunchtime I barely came down here. I have two more gangs waiting there, I also have to drive them here and plant hay," says farmer Yusup Abdullaev.

Almost everyone who passed the village of Talgi today found themselves in a similar situation. Here is the car: winter tires, that is, ready for bad weather, but still sweeps too much. Without the help of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there is no way.

- How many cars did you get?

- We have already lost count, but there are about 20 cars.

Signals for help from those stuck in the mountains came from the Atly-Boyun pass, from the Agachaul highway - from everywhere where the EMERCOM vehicles were patrolling.

"Work has been carried out on those areas where there are snow drifts. Also, the grouping of the rescuer was determined in those places where there is a need to lift heavy equipment," said Oleg Kolpikov, First Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan.

The weather also hit the power grids. Tens of thousands of Dagestanis were left without electricity for several hours. It was possible to return electricity to the houses only in the evening. But people were not discouraged. While some were making giant snowmen, others were discovering snowboarding and changing to horses.

While the residents of the republic rejoice in the snowdrifts and frost, utilities work around the clock. In the capital of the region, hardly all the available equipment took to the streets. 300 harvesters across the region are preparing for another frosty night. After it, according to forecasts of weather forecasters, the cold will begin to recede.
