Pavel Korolyov, a researcher at the Yanka Kupala Museum and a member of the supervisory commission for the protection of monuments at the Ministry of Culture of Belarus, found a treasure in the Marat Kazei park in Minsk. He announced this on Tuesday on his Facebook page.

“I found a treasure. Yesterday, as usual, I looked through the land in the Marat Kazei park,” Korolev wrote.

Construction work is currently underway in the park. Korolyov explained that antiquities in such situations often end up in the back of a car and taken to a landfill. Therefore, he pays attention to such construction projects.

At some point, he noticed something yellow. It turned out to be a coin with the profile of Nicholas II. Then there were coins, a dental crown, a chain, a ring.

Korolev stopped the work of the builders in this place and called the archaeologist from the Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Dernovich. He arrived at the place of the find and called a colleague with a metal detector.

Before the arrival of archaeologists, Korolev found 16 coins, with their help - 8 more.

Nearby were pieces of cloth (or leather) in which the treasure was wrapped, a museum employee said.

"Yesterday, the found treasures were taken to the Institute of History by its director Vadim Lakiza. The coins turned out to be golden from the time of Nicholas II and are of excellent preservation," Korolev wrote.
