Another 567 daily record lows were set the next day, February 15. As impressive as these numbers are, dozens of places have set records not only for a particular day, but for any day. in their history.
Eighty - - the lowest daily temperatures of all time were associated or set from 14 to 16 February. So it was colder than any December day. Or January. Or February. Or any other month. It was the coldest day in their history.
These were records of the coldest temperatures. On top of that, according to NOAA, 50 low temperature records were set in 11 different states from February 11 to February 16.
Bottino, North Dakota, just 10 miles from the Canadian border, recorded an air temperature (not cold wind, mind you) minus 51F (-59.8C) on February 13, dropping the previous record low. -50F (-45, 6C), which has stood for 128 years since Benjamin Harrison ended his presidential term in 1893.
