Over 14,000 people were forced to flee their homes as a result of flash floods and landslides in the Indonesian province of South Sulawesi, the number of missing has increased to 67, reports Xinhua news agency citing local authorities.

Earlier it was reported that floods and landslides in the province killed at least 36 people.

The agency reports with reference to the head of the Indonesian national disaster management agency Doni Monardo that 51 more people were injured due to the rampant disaster, 14 388 residents of the province "found refuge in safer places."

According to the representative of the local search and rescue service Zaenal Asad, rescuers directed efforts to help residents of the city of Masamba and a number of other most affected communities. 359 rescuers take part in the operation, heavy equipment was involved.

It is noted that flash floods hit the road, nine bridges, 13 religious and nine school buildings, eight office buildings, two public buildings and a market. People whose houses have been destroyed will be compensated.
