A tourist from Germany found his dog five years after he lost it in Australia. The website Daily Mail reports.

The dog named Chopper disappeared in 2015 when its owner, German student Leif Fischer, was visiting a caravan park in Tennant Creek in the Australian Northern Territory. Fischer was unable to find a pet and went home without him.

Since then, the German has developed the habit of flipping through Facebook pages dedicated to lost belongings and animals in Australia. According to him, he hadn't thought about buying a new dog because the pain of losing Chopper was too much.

In early July 2020, Fisher found a picture of his dog on the council page of the Australian city of Catherine, which is 674 kilometers from Tennant Creek. How the dog covered this distance remains unknown.

Fischer and Chopper's immediate reunion is hampered by German laws and a lack of money. According to German law, the dog will not be able to enter Germany until three months have passed since the vaccination. The German managed to find an Australian to look after his pet during this period.

Transporting the dog to Germany will cost Fischer eight thousand Australian dollars (399.4 thousand rubles). The German hopes to raise the missing funds using the GoFundMe crowdfunding service.

Earlier it was reported that a resident of the American city of San Francisco, California, found a six-year-old dog named Jackson, who disappeared four months ago. The criminal who stole the dog was arrested.
