The Russian Emergencies Ministry plans to improve the emergency prevention and response system using artificial intelligence, said the head of the department, Evgeny Zinichev, at a board meeting in Moscow.
According to the minister, work in this direction began in 2019. Together with the Russian Academy of Sciences and advanced digital developers, the department plans to create a system capable of simulating the development of certain natural phenomena. This will help to accurately and timely predict the occurrence of flooding, forest fires, storms and prevent their consequences in advance.
“These measures will make it possible to make a breakthrough in the development of information technologies aimed at preventing emergencies and will increase the reliability of modeling the current situation for making timely management decisions,” Zinichev said.
The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that the issue of including the department as a participant in the implementation of the federal project "Information Security" and the national program "Digital Economy" is also being worked out. ■
