Heavy rains caused landslides, flooding and fallen trees in different parts of Sochi, and snowfalls triggered an avalanche in the mountains, the resort administration reports.
It is noted that a storm warning continues to operate in Sochi due to bad weather. The rains that did not stop for two days caused dangerous situations in different parts of the city.
“During the day, more than the average monthly norm of precipitation fell. The most difficult situation developed in the Lazarevsky district, where the amount of precipitation exceeded 66 millimeters.
A landslide came down in the Mamaysky pass, and in the area of Prokhladnaya street one house was flooded, "the message says.
It is specified that water level fluctuations were also observed in the rivers Psezuapse, Maryino, Ashe, Khadzhiko, Shakhe, Solokhaul and Western Dagomys with the achievement of unfavorable marks. At the moment, the water has already drained, and the hydrological situation in the area is under control.
“In the Khosta district, two trees fell, flooding was recorded in five places, two more trees were felled by sudden gusts of wind in the central district of the city, flooded in three places. In the Adler district, the past day was generally calm. about 70 millimeters of precipitation. An avalanche descended in the area of one of the ski resorts, there were no casualties or injuries, without damage to the material and technical base, "the message says.
It is noted that all city services were put on high alert, and this helped to avoid a collapse. 17 monitoring groups were formed, 48 people were involved in patrolling the streets, 11 pieces of equipment were also involved in the elimination of the consequences. In addition, all ski resorts have carried out measures for the compulsory descent of avalanches. Now all holidaymakers can safely ski and snowboard.
"In Sochi, an emergency warning for bad weather continues to operate … In the next 24 hours, the wind is expected to increase with gusts of up to 20 meters per second, in the mountains above 500 meters above sea level - a weak avalanche danger. In addition, frosts are predicted in the city in the near future," - the message says.
