Mount Shindake on the Japanese island of Kutinorabu erupted in the early morning of February 3, 2020. A violent volcanic eruption threw a 7,000-meter plume of ash and gas into the air and created a 900-meter pyroclastic flow on the southwestern slope of the crater.
According to official reports, large stones were thrown about 600 meters above the crater, but neither the pyroclastic flow nor the stones reached the residential areas. However, ash fell all over the island.
