In the Czech Republic, archaeologists, while examining the foundations of the medieval Breclav castle in South Moravia, discovered the skeletons of three people who were probably victims of ritual murder during the construction of the citadel.

According to the Archeology News Network, archaeologists estimate the foundation to be around 1,000 years old. It was in it that three skeletons were found. These people were clearly not buried in a traditional ritual. The bodies were packed tightly next to each other. This led the researchers to the idea of a possible ritual murder.

"These people were buried in the foundations of the ancient fortress wall right during its construction," says archaeologist Miroslav Deimal. "Three skeletons were found in close proximity to each other in rather extreme poses. Perhaps they were even tied together."

In his opinion, these unfortunates seem to have become victims of some cruel pagan practice. It's hard to imagine that all three died at the same time by accident. In addition, archaeologists noticed that the bodies were laid on top of the first layer of stones laid in the foundation of the fortress. This suggests that they could have actually been sacrificed.

"The bodies were probably deliberately covered with some kind of iron object about 80 cm long on top," says Deimal.

According to him, anthropologists will be involved in the study of the remains. The task of the latter will be to establish whether these unfortunate local residents were. In addition, the analysis will show if they were related.

There is speculation that these could have been slaves, possibly prisoners of war, who were used to build walls and then sacrificed or executed.

It is known that the inhabitants of the Breclav castle were converted to Christianity around 1050. However, in the subsequent many years, severe pagan rituals were carried out there.
