The cold front, accompanied by snow and strong winds, caused chaos in the eastern provinces of Turkey. The storm resulted in extensive property damage, power outages, traffic disruptions, and at least one death.

In the southeastern province of Hakkari, strong winds damaged the roofs of residential buildings and public buildings in the city center.

Houses in the center of Van were also damaged, as well as greenhouses and fields in the neighboring districts of Gerpinar, barn, Gevas and Ozalp, where the roof of the barn collapsed, killing many sheep.

Power outages have occurred throughout the region, including in the center of the city of Ardahan.

In the city of Kahramanmaras, the storm damaged several residential buildings, grocery stores, billboards and a school. In the Nurkhak region, a group of 30 people was rescued by the forces of the local administration for emergency situations and disaster relief and gendarmerie units.

In the southeastern city of Diyarbakir, precipitation was accompanied by hail.

The highlands of the country have also suffered from snowfall, especially in the northern and eastern parts. Highlands in Erzincan province were particularly affected as rural roads were blocked, many mountain passes were closed and drivers were forced to use tire chains on highways.

At least one dead person has been reported, identified as a 70-year-old shepherd. Several herders in the highlands of the Uzumulu region managed to survive and return to their villages with the herd. Baris Metin Kurt, a shepherd, said the weather suddenly turned bad and this is the first time they encountered such an event in May.

In the northern province of Kastamonu, a group of shepherds roaming the countryside with 440 sheep were trapped on a plateau after a sudden snowfall. About 80 sheep have died due to cold and exhaustion, while many remain missing. The shepherds took refuge in a nearby village with their remaining animals.

In the northern province of Girsun, more than a dozen shepherds, along with some 4,000 sheep, were rescued in the highlands when local units cleared snow-covered roads and brought in food.
