Astronomers estimate that of the 10 million falling asteroids since 2012, Earth has reached only 18,000. This is because most of the meteors explode before reaching the earth's surface. Space objects fly with great speed, the pressure inside the rock rises, causing the explosion of a celestial body.

These processes occur quite often, they are well studied. When some fireballs fall, the inhabitants of our planet see a flying fireball that paints the sky in different shades. Celestial bodies are monitored using a deployed network of automatic cameras.

Astronomers are interested in one of these cases, we are talking about a fireball seen in the sky over Australia in 2016. Experts suggested that it could not be a fireball, but one of the "temporary satellites" of our planet. Scientists led by planetary scientist Patrick Schober (Curtin University, Australia), thanks to the observation system, were able to determine the trajectory and speed of a flying object. The low speed prompted scientists to think that before entering the atmosphere, the object was in orbit for some time. Most likely, in this case, the "bolide" was a temporary mini-satellite of the Earth.

Scientists hope that modern telescopes will be able to record the speed and trajectory of all objects approaching orbit.
